In partnership with PATTISON Outdoor Advertising, The National accessArts Centre (NaAC) presented by TD is pleased to announce an exciting public art initiative: LandMarks. The project will showcase the artworks of 10 artists with disabilities from the Treaty 7 / Calgary area on billboards and other public advertising platforms across Canada in fall 2026.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
The LandMarks project will support 5 artists from NaAC’s studio program and 5 artists from the Treaty 7 / Calgary area, with the goal of strengthening relationships in Calgary’s disability arts community and developing site-responsive public artworks.
Selected artists will participate in an 8-week co-mentorship program led by NaAC staff, guiding them through site and platform selection, critical conversations about public art, the creation and documentation of the artwork, and final installation. Participants are encouraged to attend meetings in person, with hybrid options available to support accessibility.
This project aims to provide artists living with disabilities with a platform to share their lived experiences and perspectives with audiences across Canada. This opportunity is open to artists engaging in a wide range of critical discussions, including but not limited to care, rest, disability, climate change, activism, treaty rights, and other forms of meaningful critical dialogue relevant to their practice. Artists may refine existing work (completed or in progress) or create new work for this opportunity.
A CARFAC compliant artist fee, materials, documentation, and production expenses will be provided for all participating artists.
Application Deadline is July 13th, 2026 at 5:00PM MT
