The Optimists Clubs in Calgary invest in the Trico Communities Accessible Arts Centre

Funding will support the revitalization and transformation of the old Scouts Hall along Memorial Drive in Calgary

The National accessArts Centre presented by TD Ready Commitment (NaAC) is pleased to announce a significant investment from the Optimists Clubs in Calgary that will support the NaAC’s capital campaign – in particular, the revitalization project in partnership with the City of Calgary that will transform the old Scouts Hall into the Trico Communities Accessible Arts Centre. This facility will be one of two that will make up the world’s first accessible arts learning campus.

The relationship between the Optimist Clubs and the NaAC date back to 2013 with a generous investment in its current facility that improved accessibility and created a dedicated gallery space.

“We are privileged to support artists with disabilities and fulfill the Optimist mandate by providing new and exciting opportunities in the community. The new Trico Communities Accessible Arts Centre – now supported by this gift from the Optimist Clubs – will provide the NaAC with a permanent facility after more than seven years of uncertainty.”

– Michael DeNicola, President, Optimist Clubs’ Park Society of Calgary

“The NaAC is truly grateful for this generous investment in our capital campaign. When completed, the Trico Communities Centre and a new, adjacent multidisciplinary learning complex will become a cultural landmark for our city and a testament to our collective efforts to creating inclusive, accessible communities. We would like to thank the Optimist Clubs in Calgary for their longstanding support of the NaAC.”

– Jung-Suk Ryu, President and CEO, National accessArts Centre
