About Art in the Dark:

Join us on Saturday, November 26th for an Art in the Dark workshop with National accessArts Centre (NaAC) artist, Andrew Harding. During the workshop, participants will explore the non-visual qualities of art making. Andrew, alongside NaAC staff, will lead a series of blind-folded drawing, painting, and sensing exercises to explore what we can learn from our non-visual senses while making visual art.

This two-hour workshop is available to registered NaAC artists of all abilities and all levels of art-making experiences. The workshop will accommodate up to 15 artists.

When: Saturday, November 26, 2022

Time: 10 AM – 12 PM

Where: National accessArts Centre (8083 Fairmount Dr. SE)

Cost: Free! Materials will be provided

Meet Andrew Harding

Andrew Harding explores various approaches to art-making, including ceramics, fibre arts, drawing, painting, and mixed media. As an artist with a visual impairment, Andrew often focuses on the tactile qualities of different materials. Using a variety of textures, lines, and colours, Andrew draws upon his senses to create a visual language, often themed around nature and the outdoors.

Since 2011, Andrew has been an avid contributor to an international conversation about art and disability. He has showcased his artworks in all corners of the world including Canada, Italy, Mexico, the United States of America, and Korea. In 2019 co-developed his Art in the Dark workshop series, allowing him to share his creative process with his audiences.
