Workshop description.

The National accessArts Centre invites artists to take part in our second online workshop series of 2021. During these two-hour workshops, artist Megan Dyck will use materials included in our most recent fluxkit to demonstrate fundamental colour-mixing techniques!

Human skin is rich and diverse with colour! From person to person, skin tone presents a wide and wonderful world of colour relationships to admire and draw inspiration. We Are Made of Colour will teach artists how to detect naturally occurring undertone colours in our faces and hands. Artists will use mirrors from their fluxkits to carefully study, interpret, and reproduce complex colours through layering and colour-mixing. We will also become familiar with using a color wheel, basic color vocabulary, and the role of complementary colors in producing a range of neutral tones.

Workshop attendance is limited to 15 spots per workshop. No additional fee to patriciate.

Megan DyckLead artist biography

Megan Dyck is an artist and educator living and working in Calgary, AB. Originally from Lethbridge, Alberta, she received her MFA from the University of Victoria (2014) and holds a BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design (2010). Engaging a range of media, Dyck’s figurative works investigate the poetics of prosaic everyday activities: drawing upon the subconscious perceptual lens of daydreaming, themes of magical realism, and notions of the uncanny. In addition to her studio practice, Megan teaches drawing, painting, colour theory, and design courses at the Alberta University of the Arts and the University of Calgary.
