Are you an artist eager to share your work and engage in meaningful cultural exchange? To commemorate the 2024-2025 KOREA – CANADA Year of Cultural Exchanges, the exhibition <KOREA X CANADA Cultural Program: Disability Arts and Culture> will be held in both Korea and Canada.
This international cultural exchange project is jointly organized by the Canada Council for the Arts (CCA), the Korean Foundation for International Culture Exchange (KOFICE), and the Korea Disability Arts and Culture Centre (KDAC).
The Canadian exhibition will take place from September 23 to October 4, 2025, touring ArtsPlace Gallery in Canmore, Won Lee Arts Space in Toronto, and the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa. The Korean exhibition will be held at the Modu Art Space, KDAC, from November 5 to December 4, 2025.
This exhibition will showcase works by five Korean artists and five Canadian artists living with disabilities. We are pleased to announce an open call for participating artists for this meaningful project.

Who qualifies to apply?
Artists must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the cultural exchange opportunity:
Be a Canadian resident identifying as having a developmental, physical, and/ or acquired disability.
Be a practicing, emerging, or mid-level career artist working in a visual art medium.
Be 18 years of age or older.
Have a solid knowledge of English as this will be the working language for the project (with translation to Korean as necessary).
The NaAC will select one artist from within the NaAC’s community; and is accepting applications from artists living with disabilities to submit applications as well. The artists will be selected from the pool of applicants through a jury process consisting of NaAC instructors, arts administrators, and artists with disabilities.
Can someone help me with my application?
Yes. Applications will be accepted from artists, caregivers, support workers, or arts organizations who may be familiar with the artist’s practice.
What will be required of the artist, if selected?
Artists selected for this opportunity should be eager to build meaningful connections with Korean and international artists, as well as with other artists living with disabilities. They must have the ability to travel to and throughout Canada, either independently or with the support of a caregiver or support worker. This program is best suited for artists who are at a stage in their career where increased visibility would have a significant impact, and who have aspirations to professionalize or are actively working towards a professional artistic practice. Additionally, selected artists must have several works available for exhibition between late September and early October, with artworks that are ready and easy to ship. Unfortunately, complex installations cannot be accommodated.
The project budget will cover travel expenses, including the hotel room, flights, and a per diem for both the artist and a caregiver / support worker, if applicable. Shipping costs for work, artist fees, and installation fees will also be covered.

Êtes-vous un artiste désireux de partager votre travail et de participer à un échange culturel significatif ? Pour commémorer l’année 2024-2025 des échanges culturels entre la Corée et le Canada, l’exposition <CORÉE X CANADA Programme culturel Arts, Culture et Handicap” se tiendra en Corée et au Canada.
Ce projet d’échange culturel international est organisé conjointement par le Conseil des arts du Canada (CAC), la Fondation coréenne pour les échanges culturels internationaux (KOFICE) et le Korea Disability Arts and Culture Centre (KDAC).
L’exposition canadienne aura lieu du 23 septembre au 4 octobre 2025 et sera présentée à la ArtsPlace Gallery de Canmore, au Won Lee Arts Space de Toronto et au Parlement d’Ottawa. L’exposition coréenne se tiendra au Modu Art Space, KDAC, du 5 novembre au 4 décembre 2025.
Cette exposition présentera les œuvres de cinq artistes coréens et de cinq artistes canadiens vivant avec un handicap. Nous avons le plaisir d’annoncer un appel ouvert aux artistes pour ce projet significatif.

Qui peut postuler?
Les artistes doivent répondre aux critères suivants pour que leur candidature soit prise en considération dans le cadre de l’échange culturel :
Être un résident canadien qui s’identifie comme ayant un handicapintellectuel et-ou physique
Être un artiste pratiquant, émergent ou en milieu de carrière travaillant dans le domaine des arts visuels.
Être âgé de 18 ans ou plus.
Avoir une solide connaissance de l’anglais, qui sera la langue de travail du projet (avec traduction en coréen si nécessaire).
Le NaAC sélectionnera un artiste au sein de sa communauté et accepte les candidatures d’artistes vivant avec un handicap. Les artistes seront sélectionnés parmi les candidats par un jury composé d’instructeurs du NaAC, d’administrateurs artistiques et d’artistes handicapé(e)s.
Est-ce que quelqu’un peut m’aider à remplir mon dossier de candidature ?
Oui. Les demandes seront acceptées de la part d’artistes, de soignants, de travailleurs de soutien ou d’organisations artistiques qui peuvent être familiers avec la pratique de l’artiste.
Que demandera-t-on à l’artiste s’il est sélectionné ?
Les artistes sélectionnés pour cette opportunité doivent être désireux d’établir des liens significatifs avec des artistes coréens et internationaux, ainsi qu’avec d’autres artistes vivant avec un handicap. Ils ou elles doivent être en mesure de voyager au Canada et dans tout le pays, soit de manière autonome, soit avec l’aide d’un soignant ou d’une soignante ou d’une personne de confiance. Ce programme convient mieux aux artistes qui sont à un stade de leur carrière où une visibilité accrue aurait un impact significatif, et qui aspirent à se professionnaliser ou travaillent activement à l’élaboration d’une pratique artistique professionnelle. En outre, les artistes sélectionnés doivent avoir plusieurs œuvres disponibles pour une exposition entre fin septembre et début octobre, avec des œuvres prêtes et faciles à expédier. Malheureusement, les installations complexes ne peuvent pas être acceptées. Le budget du projet couvrira les frais de voyage, y compris la chambre d’hôtel, les vols et une indemnité journalière pour l’artiste et son assistant ou son assistante, le cas échéant. Les frais d’expédition des œuvres, les honoraires de l’artiste et les frais d’installation seront également couverts.
