The National accessArts Centre welcomes Colin Jackson to its Board of Directors
CALGARY – The National accessArts Centre (NaAC) – Canada’s largest and oldest disability arts organization – is pleased to announce the appointment of Colin Jackson to its Board of Directors.
Colin currently serves as Co-Chair of Calgary on Purpose, Senior Scholar at the University of Calgary Graduate College, Board Secretary and Advancement Chair of the National Theatre School of Canada, and is a member of the Arizona State University New American Council for Art and Design. He is the recipient of the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals and a Canada Council Senior Arts Award. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, holds a BA from the University of Manitoba and a MPA from Harvard Kennedy School. The Colin Jackson Theatre in Winnipeg is named for him.
He was the founding Artistic Director of Prairie Theatre Exchange (Winnipeg). His work history includes being a current affairs and drama producer for the CBC, on-air host for Global TV current affairs, Executive Director of the Confederation Centre of the Arts (Charlottetown) and President of The EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts (Calgary). He has served as a member of the Prime Minister’s External Advisory Committee on Cities and Communities, a member of the Mayor’s Panel on Urban Sustainability, a member of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce Strategic Council for the Renaissance City, a member of the Executive of the Canada Council for the Arts, a member of the Executive of the Canadian Conference of the Arts, a founding member of the Calgary Arts Development Authority, Development Chair for the International Society for the Performing Arts, Chair of ArtsSmarts, a member of the University of Alberta Senate, Chair of imagination 150, member of the Board of the University of Calgary, Executive-in-Residence at the Haskayne School of Business, and as Calgary Chair of Harvard’s Schools and Scholarships Committee.
