Rendering of the old Scouts Hall

City of Calgary commits to supporting the revitalization efforts of the old Scouts Hall

On December 3, 2025, Calgary’s City Council unanimously voted to increase the investments made towards the revitalization of the old Scouts Hall — soon to be the home of the Trico Communities Accessible Arts Centre — to $4.9 million, helping offset the prohibitive cost increases that were previously the responsibility of the National accessArts Centre. With this increased investment, work will soon resume on the necessary interior and exterior upgrades that will create visual arts studios and administrative offices for the NaAC.

This was made possible by a motion from Ward 11 Councillor Rob Ward with support from Ward 7 Councillor Myke Atkinson. All Councillors and Mayor Jeromy Farkas unanimously voted in support of Councillor Ward’s motion.

“This City Council has sent a strong signal that they want to be partners in helping the NaAC realize its vision of building a new home for our artist community. We are tremendously grateful to Councillor Ward and all City Councillors for unanimously supporting this vision. We look forward to continuing this work to revitalize the old Scouts Hall that has now sat vacant for more than five years – and transforming it into the Trico Communities Accessible Arts Centre.” – Jung-Suk Ryu, President and CEO, National accessArts Centre
