Unprecedented sponsorship arrangement will transform former Scouts Hall into the Trico Communities Accessible Arts Centre

Calgary, Alta. (February 6, 2025) – The National accessArts Centre presented by TD Ready Commitment (NaAC) will announce a groundbreaking multi-year sponsorship investment from Trico Communities that will completely transform the current Scouts Hall (2140 Brownsea Drive NW) into the Trico Communities Accessible Arts Centre, a state-of-the-art visual arts learning centre supporting Canadian artists living with disabilities. This event will be on Monday February 10, 2025 starting at 10 a.m. at the Girl Guides Building (2188 Brownsea Drive NW). Trico Communities is proud to be the naming sponsor of the wonderful centre.
“Trico Communities believes in the power of building community within communities and creating spaces where people feel at home. Supporting our community is fundamentally tied to our values, mission and vision. Trico has always believed in the connection between ‘doing well’ and ‘doing good’—a belief that has shaped our culture and purpose. We do well when we create value for our customers, and we do good when we build stronger, healthier, thriving communities. We’re proud to showcase these values through our contribution to the National accessArts Centre’s vision.” said Patrick Chiu, President, Trico Communities.
This has been a long and rewarding journey for the National accessArts Centre “We are so excited to finalize this sponsorship agreement between Trico Communities and the National accessArts Centre. After a long journey of trying to rebuild our new home following the collapse of the Fairview Arena more than seven years ago, we are now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. This investment gives our project a huge boost forward in building a state-of-the-art learning facility for Canadian artists living with disabilities.” said Jung-Suk Ryu, President and CEO, National accessArts Centre
Owned by the City of Calgary and currently undergoing extensive redesign and renovations to support the NaAC’s visual arts programs and its administrative headquarters, the Scouts Hall was first constructed in 1967 and was vacated by the Scouts organization in 2021. The City of Calgary has committed to this project with a multimillion dollar investment in base building and accessibility-related upgrades.
Media are invited to a special announcement event on Monday February 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at 2188 Brownsea Drive NW, where the NaAC will unveil its latest renderings for the Trico Communities Accessible Arts Centre. Interview opportunities will be available following brief remarks by Patrick Chiu, Jung-Suk Ryu, and representatives from the NaAC artist community.
