Cinema Explorers: Summer Blockbusters
July 16 @ 1:00 pm – August 27 @ 3:00 pm MDT
Thursdays
In this class facilitated by Katie Wackett, participants will embark on a guided tour of summer Blockbuster movies. Each week we will watch a film and discuss its meaning. Each screening will have a special snack to go along with the film. This class is ideal for artists who enjoy watching and sharing their opinions.
In this class, you will:
- Watch movies and practice discussing themes and meanings
- Learn about film history
- Learn to critique movies, how to form your opinion and connect with other participants
- Learn about the history of the summer blockbuster film – what makes a movie popular? What can mainstream films teach us? How do these films make us think about our own art/film practices?
This class is open for anyone over 18 years old, whether they identify as a member of a disability community or not, however the class prioritizes accessibility. Instructions are given in plain language, and the location of the class is wheelchair accessible. Films will be shown with subtitles.
