Dance Lab: Hip-Hop and Performance 101
April 9 @ 1:00 pm – May 28 @ 3:00 pm MDT
Thursdays
Facilitator: Ashley Brodeur
Dance Lab is a community-focused dance class designed for movers who want to deepen their skills while staying connected to the joy of movement. Each session blends technique with creative exploration – offering a space to experiment, refine, and grow your movement vocabulary. Whether you’re building your foundation or expanding your style, Dance Lab is where practice meets play!
This session’s theme is ‘Hip-Hop and Performance 101’. Over the course of 7 weeks, we will dive into the basic elements of hip-hop – a groovy, rhythmic, and high-energy style. We will also explore different performance techniques, such as energy and presence.
Each week will involve activities like:
- Breaks to rest, chat, and connect
- A friendly welcome and warm-up
- Dance steps, fun improvisation, and moving around the room
- Creating your own movement and sharing it with others
- Dancing with different props
- Breaks to rest, chat, and connect
Prioritizing accessibility, Community Dance Classes at the NaAC are created for anyone 18 and older from all skills, genders, and backgrounds. All movement styles, levels, and abilities are welcome!
