ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:

This six-part workshop series explores sound and silence as compositional, meditative, and emotional tools, offering participants space to reflect, self-regulate, and deepen their listening in music and life. Participants will explore the relationship between sound and silence, both in music and in their everyday lives. In the end, they’ll develop a deeper awareness of how sound and silence shape emotions, communication, and creativity.

Topics explored over the course of the series include:

  • Opening reflections on sound and silence (including identifying tension in the body and using breath to release tension and become present)
  • Discussions on sound, silence and mental health
  • A live, collective music-making experience using voice, instruments, found sounds and even pauses

Please confirm access needs, including ASL-English interpretation, by contacting Karen at kaugustine@accessarts.ca.
