Weekly on Wednesdays
Learn how to create your own natural ink with plants that grow in Treaty 7.
Pigments and inks can come from the most surprising places – rich purples, golden yellows, and vibrant greens can all be sourced from the plants around us.
Participants will learn about local Indigenous plant species with guest Facilitator Latifah Ahmed in one of the early sessions. We will learn about plants that are safe to work with and plants that should be avoided. Then we will learn how to thoughtfully gather ink-making materials, discover how to make ink, and share a sample of our ink amongst each other. Each attendee will finish the course with a bottle of their own hand-crafted botanical ink. They will also receive a booklet filled with sample sheets of each participant’s finished ink!
This course is open to all creative minds who are interested in making and using their own natural, botanical inks. No previous experience is necessary.
This class is for people 18 years of age and older, and is open to mixed ability participants. ASL or Audio Description interpretation is available upon request.
