National accessArts Centre is excited to announce that Calgary International Film Festival has chosen Noriko Ohsada’s short film, Pearl Tears, to be a part of the 2024 lineup! Noriko, who is an integral member of the NaAC community, created this film in our Sounds of the Silver Screen Community Class earlier this year.
Pearl Tears is an experimental autobiographical short. The film uses archival material to share Ohsada’s experience as a young Japanese immigrant to Canada who learns that her daughter will be born with Down Syndrome. The film was shot on Super 8 Film at the National accessArts Centre.
Pearl Tears will be included in Shorts: Alberta Spirit at Scotiabank Theatre Chinook on Monday, September 23rd. The screening begins at 7:45pm.
